We’ve written before about our experience with Balance of Nature supplements and how well they work. From our experience and what we can find online, these are high-quality whole food supplements.
They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery, and with Balance of Nature going strong for over 20 years, there were bound to be competitors.
One such competitor is called Texas SuperFood. Like Balance of Nature, they have advertised heavily on the radio and sell a supplement made from whole foods.
So what do the natural supplements from Balance of Nature and Texas SuperFood have in common? And how are they different?
In this article, we compare Texas Superfood vs Balance of Nature and highlight their pros and cons to help you decide which one may be a better fit for your needs.
Balance of Nature
The first and most noticeable difference is that Balance of Nature comes as two separate supplements: fruits and veggies. The red bottle contains capsules with their fruit blend, while the green bottle contains capsules with their vegetable blend.
They are only sold as a set, so you have to get both, and the recommended daily serving is 3 capsules of fruits and 3 capsules of veggies for 6 total capsules each day.
The fruits used in the fruit blend are Aloe Vera, Apple, Banana, Blueberry, Cherry, Cranberry, Grape, Grapefruit, Lemon, Mango, Orange, Papaya, Pineapple, Raspberry, Strawberry, and Tomato. They also use the entire fruit in most cases, meaning the stem, core, and seeds of the apple, not just the part you usually eat.
The vegetables used in the veggie blend are Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrot, Cauliflower, Cayenne Pepper, Celery Stalk, Garlic, Kale, Onion, Shiitake Mushroom, Soy Bean, Spinach, Wheat Grass, Yam, and Zucchini. The garlic and cayenne pepper are interesting to include as they significantly impact the taste, but not necessarily in a bad way.
All of this can be verified on the Balance of Nature website as well. For more in-depth information on how effective these supplements are, there are reviews and other resources online worth reading.
Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Balance of Nature fruits and veggies is that they have remained the same for more than 20 years. Since then, there have been many health fads, but they haven’t added so-called superfoods, probiotics, or anything else to their formula. It’s really just pure fruits and vegetables.
Their process is pretty simple: they take whole, fresh produce, freeze-dry it to remove all the water and moisture, then pulverize what’s left into a powder. Those powders are mixed into their proprietary blends and encapsulated.
Balance of Nature – price
The price for Balance of Nature depends on how you purchase the supplements. They have a monthly recurring subscription plan, which lets you get them for $69.95 per month. You can also buy using the one-time option, but that raises the price to $89.95.
The reason for this is pretty straightforward: from their experience, it takes time and consistency with their products to see results. So, they want to encourage customers to take Balance of Nature consistently.
Oddly, you can also find Balance of Nature on Amazon but for even more than their website prices. Buying on Amazon isn’t recommended for that reason.
A constant concern about Balance of Nature that customers and prospective customers regularly express is the presence of soy in the veggies blend. There are many resources online that detail the potential dangers of soy, so the criticism is potentially valid.
Balance of Nature has directly addressed this on their blog. They give a reasonable explanation as to why whole soy isn’t bad at all and that research regarding negative aspects of soy has been focused on soy isolates or processed soy.
Another criticism is regarding the presence of grapefruit in the fruit blend. Research has indicated that grapefruit can have a negative impact on those using statins. And while rare overall, it is also one of the more common food allergies.
Anyone with an allergy to one of the ingredients in Balance of Nature or any other whole food supplement obviously should not take the supplement. If you are on statins, it would be best to talk to the health coaches at Balance of Nature to learn about how grapefruit may interact with your medication.
It’s worth noting that Balance of Nature does offer one additional product called Fiber and Spice. As the name implies, it is a daily fiber supplement made from whole food sources that contain a dozen spices for an interesting, unique flavor.
Basically, no one in America gets enough fiber, so this is a welcome member of the product lineup. When taken with the fruits and veggies, these products constitute the Balance of Nature Whole Health System.
Overall, Balance of Nature supplements are high-quality products worth trying.

Texas SuperFood
There are some similarities and differences between Balance of Nature and Texas SuperFood. The most obvious difference is in the selection. Texas SuperFood has a similar product in that they offer powdered fruits and vegetables just like Balance of Nature.
However, you can get them in capsule form or buy a bag of just the powder. They also have a line up of drinkable multivitamins and do not offer a fiber supplement like Balance of Nature.
Unlike Balance of Nature, the capsules for Texas SuperFood come in just a single bottle. The ingredients list is quite long and contains fruits and vegetables as well as lots of extras.
Those ingredients are: Acai Berry, Annatto Seed, Apple, Artichoke, Asparagus, Beet, Black Seed, Black Walnut, Blueberry, Broccoli, Broccoli Sprouts, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Carrot, Cauliflower, Celery Leaf, Chicory Root, Cucumber, Dandelion Leaf, Elderberry, Fenugreek, Ginger, Goji Berry, Golden Berry, Grapeseed, Green Bean, Hawthorne Berry, Holy Basil, Kale, Lucuma, Maca, Monk Fruit, Noni, Onion, Parsley, Passion Fruit, Pea Protein, Pear, Pomegranate, Prune, Pumpkin Seeds, Rhubarb, Rose Hip, Senna Leaf, Spinach, Sweet Potato, Tomato, and Turmeric.
At first glance, this would appear to be impressive, except that all of this (and more) are in just one capsule and not separated into two like Balance of Nature. How much of any one ingredient are you really getting?
On top of these, there are also enzyme blends, probiotic cultures, and algae. Put all of those together, and you have to wonder what kind of trace amounts you’re getting with all that in one capsule.
The good news is that there is quite a bit of good nutrition in Texas SuperFoods. By expanding their ingredient list beyond what Balance of Nature offers, you might be getting less of each ingredient, but you’re getting a wider array of nutrients.
Texas SuperFoods – price
When it comes to price, Texas SuperFoods make the more affordable option. Like Balance of Nature, they offer a discount for recurring monthly shipments. However, it’s $59.95 for the one-time purchase and $54.95 if you do the subscription, so there isn’t much difference.
It’s worth noting that Texas SuperFoods can be found on Amazon as well, and the price there is the same $59.95. There are also a lot of reviews there to check out.
There is one red flag when it comes to Texas SuperFood in the form of a warning letter from the FDA. Most supplement makers get these warnings, but this letter outlines some more serious marketing allegations. It is over five years old, though, and the violations appear to have been cleaned up now.
Which is better, Texas Superfood vs Balance of Nature?
In conclusion, the choice between Texas Superfood and Balance of Nature ultimately comes down to personal preference. Both brands offer whole food supplements, similar ingredients, and close pricing, but with slight differences.
Texas Superfood is known to be more affordable, while Balance of Nature boasts of having a less diluted product. It would be helpful to try both and assess which brand provides better taste and results.
Finding the right supplement is ultimately about discovering what works best for you and your needs.
